The cold front, as promised, has brought much cooler weather to Acadiana which will provide some relief from the heat.
Some cloud cover Thursday morning will help keep temperatures from making it out of the 70s and lows Thursday night expected to dip down into the upper 50s.
The cold front will continue to slow and eventually stall offshore, allowing what is known as a short wave to provide some unsettled weather. Rain will hold off for most of Friday but will start to arrive late in the day.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms are greatest late overnight into the early hours of Saturday. There is a lot going on the weekend in Acadiana and luckily it looks like the rain will start to slow down early Saturday afternoon.
By the time Sunday arrives, however, we are in for a treat with temperatures in the mid 70s and lows in the 50s.
