Opelousas Mayor Donald Cravins has announced his intent to seek another term as mayor.
The former state senator said he would like to continue the progress made throughout his administration, according to a press release.
"We have done some wonderful things in a short time in this great city but there is so much left to be done. Our infrastructure, schools and neighborhoods had been neglected for far too long. As the city continues to blossom we must stay the course, continuing to work together towards a brighter tomorrow for our children and grandchildren," said Cravins.
Cravins, a Mallet native, was first elected mayor in 2006 and was re-elected in 2010. He is married to Patricia Arceneaux Cravins and is the father of three adult children.
He received a bachelor's degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.
The primary election is slated for November 4, 2014.
