Domestic disturbance call leads to wife's arrest

A 37-year-old Lacassine woman is accused of striking her husband with a shovel, according to a news release.

Jefferson Davis Sheriff deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Lacassine on Wednesday.

According to witnesses, Jaime Hargrave damaged the vehicle belonging to her and her husband by striking it with a shovel. In an attempt to stop her, her husband, Edward P. Hargrave, was struck by the tool.

As Edward attempted to leave, his wife picked up a 12 gauge shotgun and pumped the action back, according to the release. Another witness grabbed the shotgun from Jaime's hands and unloaded it.

Deputies arrested and charged Jaime M. Hargrave for domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault. Hargrave was transported and booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.
