Disturbance Flares Up Along Florida Panhandle

While the weather in Acadiana has stayed on the quiet side for the last few days, we are seeing a disturbed area starting to flair up in the Gulf of Mexico. Chances at this time are minimal that it becomes something more then a disturbance, but it is trying to get organized.

The proximity to land will do the system no favors as it slowly works its way westward along the coast, but weak upper level winds may allow something to form. A few models indicating perhaps a weak tropical storm hitting Texas in the next few days. Regardless of its tropical status it will provide a boost of moisture into the region which will likely result in more extended shower activity.

Rain chances will increase headed into the weekend, with better chances for rainfall both Saturday and Sunday. Winds will also pick up for Saturday, particularly along the coast. Until then though the forecast will remain status quo.

After this system passes, however, we may get a blast of dry air which will make conditions a little more pleasant through the beginning of next week.
