Des Allemands Man Convicted in Bar Brawl

faced decades in prison for his role in a September 2009 bar fight
that left two people hurt was convicted Thursday of lesser

jury deliberated about 45 minutes before finding 27-year-old
Brandon Davis guilty of simple battery and simple robbery in the
attack at the Queen Bee lounge on U.S. Highway 90.
Davis was charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery and
faced up to 99 years in prison. Two bar employees were injured and
about a half dozen bottles of liquor were taken from the bar during
the brawl, according to testimony during the trial.
Davis will be sentenced on Nov. 17. His lawyer said he will
appeal the robbery conviction.
Davis, was part of a group of people drinking and playing pool
at the Queen Bee that night, according to testimony. The fight
broke out after an announcement the bar was closing, according to
Prosecutors said Timothy Lovelace, who was with Davis, took part
in the attack and also snatched liquor bottles and stuffed them
into a Cadillac owned by Davis. The two then drove away,
prosecutors said.
In an agreement with prosecutors last year, Lovelace pleaded
guilty to aggravated battery in exchange for a three-year sentence.
Simple robbery carries up to seven years in prison, though
lawyers said Davis, who has past convictions for burglary and drug
possession, could be sentenced under the state's habitual offender
law, which could expose him to more jail time.
