Deputies shoot man who allegedly pointed gun at them

State police are investigating a shooting involving Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies.

Officials say around 7:15 Tuesday night, deputies responded to 67-year-old Carroll Comeaux's house after he allegedly caused a disturbance between some of his neighbors. Deputies say they looked into a window and saw Comeaux grab a shotgun and a spotlight. Comeaux allegedly pointed the shotgun at the deputies when he answered the door. The deputies then fired at Comeaux, hitting him twice.

Comeaux remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He is facing two counts of aggravated battery on a police officer and an additional count of aggravated battery. Comeaux will be booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail upon release from the hospital.
