Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriffs Office (JDPSO) is reminding boater and participants in this weekend's Lake Arthur Regatta Festival to abide by festival rules.
Deputies advise boaters to have enough life jackets for everyone aboard and that children under the age of 16 must wear life jackets at all times while in a boat. Deputies also want boaters to remember drinking and boating equates to drinking and driving.
Deputies say that multiple law enforcement agencies on the water will be coordinating efforts to keep all participants safe this weekend. JDPSO is reminding residents that deputies will be implementing their new text advisory system this weekend. Parish residents and visitors may register for the new alert system by texting REGATTA to the number 888777 or by downloading the Nixle App in the App Store.
