Deputies blame drug deal for shooting

GRAY, La. (AP) - Terrebonne Parish sheriff's deputies say a drug deal gone bad left a 23-year-old man from Gray dead.
According to The Courier, Corey Short told investigators he was shot in the chest by his cousin, 21-year-old Joshua Smith. Authorities say another man, 21-year-old Chad Mart, was also involved in his Short's death
Short's girlfriend, 19-year-old Kanjaney Brown, called police at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Short, who was responsive at the time, provided investigators a description of the two men. He was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Terrebonne sheriff's Capt. Dawn Foret said Shot died at the hospital at about 2 a.m.
Smith was found hiding in a closet at his mother's home. He was arrested and booked with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Mart is currently still being sought.
