It was a deadly Sunday in Crowley.
Two domestic disturbances, ending in two murders, just two hours apart.
In the first incident, a female suspect is in custody after a male victim was stabbed.
That happened in the 200 block of Westwood Drive in Crowley about 3:00pm.
Police say Ericka Soloman and a man had a domestic dispute at the apartment when Soloman stabbed the man in the chest.
He then ran away from the scene, soon collapsing.
Police say when they arrived on the scene the victim had a faint pulse but, died at the scene.
Soloman will be charged with second degree murder.
The second incident happened around 5:00pm in the 1000 block of West Hutchinson Avenue.
Officers say Marlon Mayfield pulled a woman inside a home, and shot her once in the head.
Mayfield was also booked into the Acadia Parish jail, charged with second degree murder.
These investigations remain open.
Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson says, "Domestic violence unfortunately. Usually something that starts very small and builds up as far as the heat of it. Especially with a matter like this one where they're inside the residence, you can also drive right in front of this house and not know it's going on."
And with two violent killings so close together in both vicinity and time, it's got residents of both neighborhoods, and much of Crowley, wanting answers.
The sounds of loss could be heard up and down the street.
At one point the sights becoming so unbearable a bystander fainted.
Many of those who surrounded the home on Hutchinson were friends and neighbors, who say Sunday's violence not only hurts them, but Crowley as a whole.
Albert Jones, a relative of both parties, says, "This is not going to solve anything. What happened today was a sad situation, I'm sorry it happened. The victim was my first cousin and the one that did it was my nephew."
Emily Daniel, says she's a survivor of domestic abuse.
She hopes others in abusive relationships take today's events as a warning, and get out before it's too late.
"Get away. Leave everything. Everything. Belongings, everything. Just go. It's not worth your life. Just leave. I did it.I was 18, 19...y'all can do it", says Daniel.
