BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne is canceling his planned trip this week to New York to promote the state's tourism efforts. Weather concerns and scheduling conflicts were said to be the blame for scrapping the visit.
Instead, a spokeswoman for Dardenne's office says he will do the planned series of television and magazine interviews on Thursday by satellite, hoping to get coverage for Louisiana's travel opportunities.
Dardenne's office says he'll likely make the New York trip in the spring.
Tourism is a $9 billion industry in Louisiana. During his interviews, Dardenne has said he'll talk about seafood safety, the carnival season, festivals around the state and outdoor activities across Louisiana.
