A flier circulating around Acadia Parish is offending some residents. The flier is coming from a Crowley church. The pastor said he's not apologizing for mailing out the 14, 000 copies.
We want to warn you, the subject matter of this report may not be appropriate for all members of your family.
Crowley resident, Geraldine Tezeno, said "I opened it up because I got it in my mail. I didn't know what it was. I opened it and started reading it and I said what is this."
Porn, sex and god are just a few of the words found on the church flier. Tezeno said she's offended.
"Sex and rooms and all of that stuff, " she said. "I don't think it should be in this."
EastLake Crowley Church Pastor Mike DeRosier, said "our intent is not to offend, our intent is to address a real issue."
Pastor DeRosier, said he knew he wasn't going to get approval from everyone and he said he's okay with that.
"Trying to take the whole taboo thing off and say sex is a good thing, " he said. "We need to talk about it in a positive light yet establish those parameters that God set up, so we are aware and on guard about things that would be destructive to our own lives and those of our families."
DeRosier said people are dealing with much more complex issues than in the past and it's time to talk about it.
He explained, "the issue of pornography is that it's destroying lives and it's destroying marriages and it's destroying families and we want people to know there's hope for this."
Iota Resident, Jo Fabacher, said "how are you going to hear it, if somebody like this doesn't put it out. I don't take offense at all. I think it's a good thing."
The five part series 'Thank God for Sex' begins January 30. You can visit www.EastLakeCrowley.com for more information.
