Crooks Fireworks Stand attemped robbery

Authorities say a fireworks stand operator who shot two alleged robbers on Christmas Day isn't expected to face any charges in the shooting. The shooting left one Alexandria man dead, another hospitalized and a third on the run.

Sheriff's Maj. Jerome Hopewell said 20-year-old Sheldon Fisher was killed and 18-year-old Charvick Rachal was wounded.

He said Rachal would be booked with attempted armed robbery after his release from a hospital.

He says the manager's wife had told the manager of the Crooks Fireworks stand that a young man was acting suspicious Friday evening, so her husband got his gun. Hopewell says the young man and two others showed up with handguns as the stand was closing, and the manager opened fire.
