The St. Landry Parish School Board voted to close Creswell Elementary. It will shut down on the last day of school, which is May 24. The Recovery School District will recommend to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to make it a charter school. But, the St. Landry School Board is proposing to reconstitute the school under a new name and have it under St. Landry Parish and not under the Recovery School District.
The board recently learned the State Department of Education will take over Creswell Elementary School next academic year. The school has been a failing school for for consecutive years.
