Cooler Temperatures Following Soaking Rain

It has been a long, hot summer, and although temperatures will certainly stay hot through September there will be some relief this weekend.

Sunday morning will be one of the more pleasant mornings we've seen in quite sometime with drier air and cooler conditions looking to make a presence.

Temperatures on Sunday will hang around in the mid 80s with lows dipping into the 60s in the morning (Shreveport may even hit upper 50s).

Before we get there though we have some soaking rains to deal with, deep tropical moisture will move in ahead of the front, and parts of Acadiana could see a couple inches of rain by Saturday evening. The rain will arrive late Friday and carry through into Saturday.

The speed of the front is proving difficult to pin down so it is tricky to say exactly when the rain will come to an end, but the skies should start clearing up by Saturday evening. Be on the look out for localized flooding as the ground will have a tough time soaking up the rain, and keep in mind a coastal flood advisory is in effect until Saturday morning.

The beginning of next work week will be dry and sunny, but models are now indicating the weather will be unsettled again by Wednesday of next week.
