(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Sen. David Vitter today announced the awarding of a $217,782 Coastal Impact Assistance Program grant to Vermilion Parish for Shoreline Protection on Southwest Point at Southwest Pass.
"This grant will add to the important coastal and wetlands restoration in Vermillion Parish, and - as all south Louisianans know - increasing our coast and strengthening our wetlands are key components to comprehensive storm protection," said Vitter
This funding will provide protection to the shoreline between Southwest Point and Indian Point with the use of 8,759 linear feet of onshore revetment. The project is located approximately 14.4 miles southeast of Intracoastal City in the Teche-Vermilion Basin.
