Acadia Parish Schools officials are considering options about if and where Church Point Elementary will hold classes tomorrow after the school took on a significant amount of water as a result of a plumbing failure.
According to Superintendent John Bourque, the school was flooded with "lots of water" when pipes burst at the school over the weekend. A Church Point parent who lives nearby described the school as being filled with about 2 to 3 inches of water. Crews reportedly are at the school attempting to remedy the situation.
"We have a building across the street," said Bourque, who told KATC that he and school officials are exploring their options. Bourque said he expected a decision would be made early Monday afternoon.
