A scary morning for a 5 year old boy who's now safe with his parents. He woke up sweating in a hot school bus, after about being left alone for 3 hours. The bus driver didn't realize the child never got off at Truman Montessori School.
The child's aunt says this should have never happened. "I put him(the school bus driver) in full responsibilty for that. When those kids leave from home, it's his job to make sure those kids are secure, and he did not do that," Denise Angelle says.
The young boy walked about a block into Yvette Alexander's yard. She says, he was sweating and crying for his parents. "I knew he was lost or someone was looking for him... I'm just happy he came this way," Alexander says. Alexander called the boys parents, after finding an ID tag on the child's backpack.
Lafayette School Board Officials say the bus driver, Kenneth Babineaux has been suspended for 20 days without pay.
