LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Applications for a new charter school planned for Lafayette will be accepted beginning in late January.
The Advocate reports Willow Charter Academy is expected to open in August. Enrollment will be limited to 492 students in grades kindergarten through fifth.
The school is part of Louisiana Achievement Charter Academies, a group that currently includes only one other school, Advantage Charter Academy. Advantage Charter plans to begin classes in August in Baker. There will be 464 student slots at the Baker school.
The nonprofit board is working with National Heritage Academies, a Michigan-based charter school management company, to manage the schools.
