Car Hits Apartment, Burst Into Flames

Around 2:30 Saturday morning a car traveling in the 1000 block of Kaliste Saloom Road veered off and hit an apartment. Chief Leonard Blackwell with the Lafayette Fire Department says the car's gas tank ruptured causing it and the apartment to go up in flames. Three people were inside the residence at the time of the fire, but everybody made it out safely. Adjacent apartments were evacuated for safety precautions. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Lafayette Police Department. Tune into later editions of KATC for the very latest on this story.
