The Calcasieu Parish Transit Department will be re-locating its offices to the City of Lake Charles Transit office. This collaboration will provide a centralized location where rural residents will be connected to urban areas based on the citizen's transportation needs.
"The Calcasieu Parish Public Transit System is excited about the co-location between our system and the City of Lake Charles Transit System," Human Services Director Tarek Polite says. "It is our hope that through this collaborative endeavor that citizens' inside and outside the city limits transportation experience will be enhanced as both systems continue to strive to improve the quality of their service delivery."
"The City of Lake Charles welcomes the Calcasieu Parish Transit Department to the City of Lake Charles Transit and Customer Service Center," said John Cardone, city administrator of Lake Charles. Their relocation to this modern and centrally located facility, at 1155 Ryan St., will enhance service by providing a joint hub for both city and parish public transportation to operate from and benefit the growing number of riders who depend upon public bus transportation."
The Calcasieu Public Transit Program offers a curbside transportation service for residents to provide access to health care, shopping, education, employment, public services and recreation services on a first-come/first-serve basis. Special rates are available for the elderly.
