Cajuns Volleyball Set For Home Weekend vs. USA, WKU

LAFAYETTE - After earning a split last weekend in a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team returns to league play beginning Friday when it faces South Alabama at Earl K. Long Gym.

First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. Live statistics and live video will be available at RaginCajuns.com. All children, ages 12 and under, will be admitted free to the match with the purchase of an adult ticket.

After facing USA (5-10, 0-5 Sun Belt) on Friday, the Ragin' Cajuns will face defending league champion WKU (15-4, 5-0 Sun Belt) on Sunday at noon. The matches are part of a three-match homestand that will conclude on Friday, Oct. 18, against league newcomer Georgia State.

The Ragin' Cajuns return home for the first time after posting a three-set victory over ULM on Oct. 2 behind a career-high 15 kills from Kaylee Nemeth. Louisiana split its two matches on the road last weekend, falling at Troy last Friday before posting a three-set victory at Arkansas State - the first win for the Ragin' Cajuns in Jonesboro since 1992.

Lavinia Tataran leads Louisiana on offense with 2.82 kills per set with Sara Mossakowski (2.40), Tonice White (2.25) and Nemeth (2.23) next. Andrea Hole, who is third in the Sun Belt Conference in assists, leads the team with 10.23 assists per set and is second on the team with 3.04 digs.

Taylor Meade leads the Ragin' Cajuns, and is second in the Sun Belt Conference, in service aces at 0.33 per set. The senior enters the weekend needing eight digs to reach 1,000 in her career and 14 aces from tying former Ragin' Cajun Alisa Smith (166, 1983-86) for fifth-place on the school's all-time list.

Junior Caitlyn Auxilien leads Louisiana, and is fourth in the Sun Belt, in digs per set (4.31) and is followed by Hole (3.04), Tataran (2.60), Meade (2.12) and Mossakowski (2.03). Freshman Chanelle Gardner leads the Ragin' Cajuns with 54 blocks on the season and is followed by White with 41.

As a team, Louisiana leads the Sun Belt Conference in service aces (1.34/set) and digs (15.23/set) and is third in the league in assists (11.70/set) and opponents hitting percentage (.157). The Ragin' Cajuns are fourth in the league in hitting (.225) and kills (12.59/set) and are sixth in the conference in blocks (1.91/set).
