Around Christmas time most know him as the man who rides his sleigh and delivers presents. But during the Ragin Cajun baseball season he plays a different role in Acadiana. His name is Cajun Santa.
"Everybody knows Cajun Santa. If you walk around the parking lot and they ask, 'Where is Cajun Santa?' they say, 'Oh he is over there'," UL Baseball fan Bob Savoy said.
Cajun Santa has been strutting his white beard for more than 40 years. It all started when he was serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.
"I was told to grow a beard so the locals wouldn't think I was in the army," Cajun Santa Ronald Louviere said.
Cajun Santa also said that hairstyle was all the rage in the 70s. Once he moved back to Acadiana, the white hair started to grow a new meaning. His friend Bob Savoy said he's a Ragin Cajun good luck charm.
Like any true fans there guys plan to tailgate for the baseball games Cajun Style.
"We're going to barbeque, doing a lot of beer drinking, a lot of hollering, and hopefully we will be smoking a victory cigar tomorrow night and Sunday night," Cajun Santa said.
Anyone who wants to meet Cajun Santa in person can find his RV parked next to the Tigue Moore Field entrance closest to Bertrand Drive.
