Broussard Middle School Students Accused of Making Bomb Threat

Two students have been arrested in connection with the Broussard Middle School bomb threat. The threat was called in to police last Thursday. School officials say they found a message written on a bathroom wall that suggested that a bomb was set to detonate in the school cafeteria at a specified time.

According to Chief Decou, they used a handwriting expert to compare the writing on the wall with the suspects' writing samples. Afterwards, they were charged with "Communicating of false information of a planned arson". Decou says one of the suspects wrote the initial message about the bomb and when it was to go off, and the other suspect added in the word "pressure cooker," which is why there are two juveniles arrested.

Both suspects were arrested and booked in the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center. Due to the age of the suspects, their names and identity will not be released.
