Breezy Today, Storms Friday

Breezy and warm today as clouds continue to increase thanks to a southerly wind bringing moisture off the Gulf of Mexico.  A front is moving across the middle part of the country today and will eventually stall over the Red River valley tonight.  Some storms are moving along that front and will slowly dissipate over southeastern Oklahoma.

At the same time a deep trough of low pressure in the upper levels is digging across the southwestern part of the country.  This trough will eject disturbances eastward allowing storms to develop over central Texas today and tonight.  As the air mass over Louisiana destabilizes, storms will become more likely as the disturbance moves in Friday morning.  Rain chances will ramp up early Friday and may quiet down again Friday night.

A stronger cold front will slide through the area Saturday afternoon bringing another chance for rain and storms.  Drier air is poised to move in early Sunday as the front pushes southward, so most of Mother's Day should be pleasant.
