Breast cancer survivor in the fight of her life

"As the lady in pre-admit said, you look a lot worse on paper than you do in person."

On paper, rachel wickman is a stage four cancer patient with tumors all over her body. In person, you'd never even know she was sick.

"I feel really good actually, considering I have these crazy tumors everywhere, you'd think that'd I'd be a lot worse off."

Wickman's bright smile and bold laugh are no act. In fact, she sees herself as fortunate that her body has responded well to treatment.

"I know it's gotta be working, something's gotta be happening in there."

Wickman admits hitting a low when she was initially diagnosed with the tumor in her liver.

"I just kept thinking this might be the end, this might be what kills me."

But with friends and family by her side, the wave of negativity passed quickly. Now, Wickman is preparing for a new challenge.

"The last procedure I asked Dr. Hoppe if it's ok if I do the Warrior Dash and he kinda looked at me like I was crazy and then he told me if I wanted to do it, sure."

No matter the obstacle, Wickman is determined to cross the finish line.

"It's not beating me, it's not winning, I'm winning."

Wickman has one more chemotherapy embolization treatment left and says she made sure to schedule it after the warrior dash.

Wickman will compete in the 5k obstacle course for the second year in a row, next Saturday, October 12th.
