ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - A man accused of killing a 20-year-old man, then torching a pickup truck with the body in it, is being held on $2 million bond in the Vermilion Parish jail.
Deputies brought 29-year-old Ferdinand Nickles to Abbeville over the weekend from Atlanta, where U.S. Marshals arrested him earlier this month.
He's accused of killing Ernest Guidry of Abbeville, whose burned body was found Sept. 27.
Deputy federal marshal Corey Britt of Lafayette says investigators traced Nickles from Lafayette to his home town of New Orleans and from there to Atlanta, where he had evacuated after
Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon has said dental records were needed to identify Guidry. He said Guidry was shot in the head.
