Board pulls low bid for Gonzales school

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) - The Ascension Parish School Board has rejected a low bid for major renovations to Gonzales Primary School, voting to pull the bid from the consent agenda.
Chad Lynch, director of Planning and Construction for the school system, said the bid, at $7.77 million, came in nearly $1 million over the proposed budget of $6.8 million.
Lynch tells The Advocate his department would modify the plans in the next couple of weeks to try and pare down the cost of the project, then resubmit the job for adjusted bids in the next month or so.
