DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) - The Ascension Parish School Board has voted to advertise for bids on a project to replace the aging George Washington Carver Primary School in Gonzales.
The Advocate reports the board unanimously approved the consent agenda item for the Carver project at Tuesday night's meeting.
Chad Lynch, director of planning and construction, said the district broke ground on the project in September, but to date only site work has been completed.
That included building a road to the site and installing sewer systems.
The project initially was to be funded from the $100 million bond initiative approved by voters in 2009.
Lynch says the district shifted $10 million of the project cost to last year's Qualified School Construction Bond grant, which must be used within two years.
