Better Business Bureau of Acadiana has revoked the accreditation of an Acadiana company for violations of their BBB Accreditation Agreements. Accredited Businesses must maintain high standards for fair and honest business practices and can be denied accreditation if they fail to comply.
The BBB's Board of Directors took this action Jan. 23 and notified Thib's Tree Service, 257 Firestation Lane, Rayne, LA 70578 that its accreditation was revoked for failure to resolve a complaint.
The company had 30 days to appeal the board action, but as of Feb. 24, BBB has had no further contact with the business.
According to the consumer, "when cutting a tree on my property, a limb fell on my neighbors patio cover. I need it fixed. (Thib's) no longer returns calls. He promised to fix it... and has not."
The consumer reported to BBB that she ended up paying money out of her own pocket to assist the neighbor in repairing the patio cover.
BBB Accredited Businesses are required to respond to customer complaints, to make a good faith effort to resolve complaints and to honor arbitration decisions. Failure to do so is considered prejudicial to the best interests of BBB and private enterprise.
Expulsion from accreditation status is unfortunate. However, the BBB takes enforcement of its standards very seriously, as BBB Standards of Accreditation are designed to offer consumers confidence before they make purchasing decisions.
