Bayou Vista man accused of trying to hide blunt by eating it

A Bayou Vista man is in jail after he allegedly attempted to eat a marijuana cigar when confronted by a sheriff's deputy.

The incident took place Tuesday night at a home in the 100 block Nini Road after St. Mary Parish sheriff's deputies received a call of a juvenile who had not returned home.

According to investigators, 43-year-old Robert Gros tried to swallow the blunt after they saw it in an ashtray in the home. Gros then allegedly tried to fight with a deputy. Investigators say they found more marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home.

Gros is charged with possession, resisting an officer, and battery on an officer. He is being held without bond.

The juvenile was found in the home and returned to the custody of a guardian.
