Baton Rouge man arrested in 2011 double homicide

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police have arrested a man in the fatal shooting of two men during an attempted robbery in February 2011 outside an apartment complex.

Twenty-four-year-old Melichi Corbin is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Brandon Watson and 46-year-old Calvin Ervin as they stood outside the Pine Crest Apartments on Feb. 12, 2011.

The Advocate reports Corbin was already incarcerated in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He was indicted by a grand jury in July 2011 on charges of second-degree murder and several charges of attempted second-degree murder in separate shootings, one of which took the life of a 14-year-old.

Christopher Williams was buying candy from a woman when he was shot.
