BAKER, La. (AP) - The Baker City Council presented Metro Councilwoman Chauna Banks-Daniel with a resolution in support of her effort to have a Baker resident appointed to the Capital Area Transit System board.
The CATS board has two vacancies because of recent resignations.
Banks-Daniel told the Baker council Tuesday night she supports having qualified directors on the board but she sees no reason why a highly qualified member cannot be found in Baker.
The Advocate reports Banks-Daniel cannot propose an ordinance to guarantee Baker a seat on the CATS board because the board's makeup is set by the state Legislature.
