Autism Society Acadiana, in collaboration with Lafayette City Police Department, is sponsoring a FREE autism training seminar for law enforcement officers and first responders. Autism Awareness and Safety Seminar for 1st Responders and Law Enforcement event will be at the Clifton Chenier Center, Auditorum, Bldg., C, on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 8:00 AM - 12 noon.
The presenter, a nationally-known speaker, Mr. Dennis Debbaudt, is an author and co-author of over 30 articles and books since 1993, including Autism, Advocates, and Law Enforcement Professionals: Recognizing and Reducing Risk Situations for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and articles for the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin (April 2001). Debbaudt Legacy Production's training video, "Autism & Law Enforcement Roll Call Briefing Video" is in use by the Department of Homeland Security and hundreds of agencies nationwide.
