Arrest Made In String Of Burglaries Around St. Martinville

Investigators with the St. Martinville Police Department made arrest late yesterday, 5/26/10, on a string of Burglaries that have been occurring in the City over the past month.

Investigators received tips from the community and with this information, Investigators were able to recover stolen items from a Burglary that occurred at Evangeline Cellular Communications. With this information in hand, Investigators were able to effect the arrest of two individuals that were responsible for the Burglary. Investigators have also been able to secure information on a Burglary that occurred at the Canal Station and have arrested one of the two that was involved in the Evangeline Cellular Burglary and have obtained a warrant for a second individual on the Canal Station Burglary. Investigators are still working on this case and will also be securing warrants on a number of Vehicle Burglaries that have occurred recently. The St. Martinville Police Department asks if anyone has more information about this or other crimes to call the Police Department @ 337-394-3001. The Department extends its gratitude to the community for the information in this case. Arrested thus far:

Torey Mouton, 20, 1000 Block of Duchamp Road, St. Martinville, LA 70582; 1 Count of Burglary of a Business; Booked into St. Martin Parish Jail. NOTE: Mouton was arrested in 2008 for Burglary of this same Business

Wendell Boyance, 22, 100 Journet Drive, St. Martinville, LA 70582; 2 Counts of Burglary of a Business; Possession of Stolen Property; Booked into St. Martin Parish Jail.

The Police Department WILL be making more arrest relative to other burglaries over the next several days....
