Arrest Made in Lafayette for Iberia Parish rape

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office set a bond at 1.5 million dollars for James Neil White, Sr., 47 of New Iberia, stemming from a case involving the aggravated rape and battery of a 37 year old female.

On Saturday, May 17 just after 3 p.m. detectives with the Bureau of Investigation, Sex Crimes Unit were notified of a female victim
who suffered from an attack in a rural area near Loreauville.

Investigators discovered White allegedly asked the victim for a ride to a specific location, but during the trip the suspect ordered the victim to drive to a rural location in Iberia Parish.

White, who had a knife, allegedly struck the victim 3 times, sexually assaulted her and fled the scene in the victims vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained in the attack and released.

White was arrested in Lafayette by LPD, and charged with Aggravated Rape, Auto Theft and Simple Battery. White was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, then he was transported to the Iberia Parish Jail.
