Arrest in alleged attack on police officer

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Police in Shreveport have made an arrest in connection with an alleged attack on a police officer.

The arrest came a day after an officer was investigating an alleged attempt to sell stolen goods. A suspect allegedly tried to hit the officer while driving away in a pickup truck.

Detectives secured an arrest warrant for 51-year-old Mark Anthony Roberts, of Bossier City, on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

Early Wednesday, patrol officers spotted a truck fitting the description of one driven by Roberts. A brief chase ended with the truck crashing into a fire hydrant. Roberts was booked into the Shreveport jail after he was treated for minor injuries.

Bond information was not immediately available and it was unknown if he had an attorney.
