Armed Robbery Suspect Wanted by Lafayette Police

Lafayette Police are looking for an armed robbery suspect along with the vehicle he drove during the robbery. Police say they responded to the incident Saturday at approximately 4:50 pm at the 3100 block of Louisiana Avenue.

The victim told police she was driving into the deposit lane of a bank when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a black Lincoln Continental truck.

The victim says she then drove and parked at a nearby parking lot, at which time the suspect approached her vehicle and began attempting to break her driver's side window.

Police say after several unsuccessful attempts to break the windows on the vehicle, the suspect fired a single shot from a handgun through the window. The suspect then reached into the vehicle and stole a deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the area in the black truck.

The suspect is described as a black male 5'10, 200 pounds wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a bandana over his face. The victim received minor injuries during the robbery.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
