The family of Bethany Arceneaux issued this statement thanking the public and asking for privacy:
We want to thank God, family, friends, residents of Duson, the Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Sheriff's Department, all of the other law enforcement agencies present, Acadian Ambulance and all of the media outlets for their help in reuniting Bethany with her family, especially her son.
We are forever grateful for the endless amount of support and prayers received from everyone during this difficult time.We the Arceneaux family would also like to extend our support and condolences to the entire Thomas family and we want them to know they will forever be in our prayers
Now, as we begin the process of putting this difficult and unfortunate situation behind us and attempt to regain some form of normalcy in our lives, we ask for some privacy from the media and the public during this time.
This will be the final comments our family will make regarding this unfortunate situation as we believe it is the best way for our family to move forward.
Repaying everyone for their time, effort and prayers may not be feasible, but please know that anything and everything you did was greatly appreciated.
We thank you for respecting our privacy during this difficult time and allowing our family the opportunity to move forward.
