NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A committee of Louisiana higher education officials is about to meet to discuss the next leader for the University of New Orleans
The committee, largely made up of members of the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors, meets on the UNO campus Thursday. A midmorning business meeting is to be followed by an afternoon public forum.
The search takes place after months of turmoil and change at the UNO campus.
Students protested budget cuts at a demonstration a year ago. Then, chancellor Tim Ryan was ousted amid disagreements with Louisiana State University leaders. More recently the Legislature approved the transfer of UNO from the LSU System to the University of Louisiana System, which governs other regional universities around the state.
