Police are investigating an alleged assault at a St. Landry Parish school.
A substitute teacher at Krotz Springs Elementary is accused of throwing the top of a desk across the classroom and flipping a student out of his seat.
Both the school board and the police department wouldn't comment, but are investigating.
"When I send him to school, I expect him to be safe."
Wednesday afternoon, Stacey Durham received a call saying her son was hurt at school. 13-year-old Brad Durham told his mom he was assaulted by a substitute teacher after he didn't follow instructions to take out his study guide.
"He pulled the desk from the front up and I fell back. I hit my head on the desk behind me and he pulled the desk from under me," said Brad.
Durham's mom is upset because she claims the school didn't call the police. She wants the sub arrested and wants to make sure he's banned from teaching.
"He could have hit another student with the desk and that would have really busted their head. I was told he went out in an angry rage."
Durham says the rage her son witnessed will make it difficult for him to go back to school. She says Brad looked up to the sub as a mentor.
"To have this happen, he's not going to trust many people again."
We did reach out to the principal of Krotz Springs Elementary, but she declined comment.
