The tropical wave that is currently near the Yucatan Peninsula will continue to drift WNW over the next few days. So far, development has been inhibited because of its proximity to land as well as an upper level low drifting just west of the tropical wave.
Not much is expected to happen over the next 24 hours, but models are indicating that development may be more likely later this weekend or early next week. Some models stall the system in the Bay of Campeche and then drift it west toward Mexico next week. Others bring the low pressure area northward toward Louisiana by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Regardless, a westward drift or a northward turn would probably bring a wet start to the work week. Enjoy the weekend weather, but stay in touch on this developing story.
