Another warm and humid start across Acadiana with temperatures in the mid 70s. A few showers are dotting the area this morning from the coast up to the I-10 corridor. Another very warm day is ahead with highs in the low to mid 90s and a heat index near 100.
Rain chances will be along the coastal areas early this morning, then transitioning across inland areas later this afternoon. Most of the activity will be due to daytime heating. The coverage should be about 30%.
The tropical disturbance near the Windward Islands continues to drift toward the West-Northwest. Some development is possible today, and a reconnaissance mission is still scheduled for this afternoon. Extended models were more in agreement yesterday with a track across the northern Caribbean toward the Yucatan channel, but today models put this disturbance anywhere from the Yucatan to Bermuda. Still many days off before it would become a threat to the U.S.
