$40 Million dollar upgrade possible for Cajundome

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Cajundome could be in line for up to $40 million in upgrades as part of plan to modernize the 24-year-old facility.
Cajundome Director Greg Davis told the Cajundome Commission on Monday that he hopes to issue bonds early next year for the some of the most extensive capital improvements the dome has seen since it opened in 1985.
The Advocate reports no specific projects have been chosen for funding, but Cajundome staff members have identified $80 million in wants and needs, including a complete reconfiguration of seating, an expansion of the convention center and major maintenance projects.
Davis said the list will have to be pared down significantly, but the first step is a financial assessment to determine how much money the dome might be eligible to borrow.
