BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The state's motor vehicles chief says Louisiana is planning to open two motor vehicle offices in the New Orleans area, possibly in the next two to three months.
Office of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Nick Gautreaux told a House transportation committee this week it only has one office open in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.
The Times-Picayune reports that Gautreaux said he hopes both can be in operation by June but the timetable depends on weather conditions in the coming weeks.
Gautreaux said his office is looking at a site in east New Orleans and one in Metairie.
