Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office SWAT team executed a search warrant today resulting in two New Iberia residents being arrested and charged with selling guns to juveniles and drug possession.
Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on July 9, 2013 at 5:00 a.m. deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office SWAT team executed a search wart at 3907 Darnell Road, New Iberia LA. The search warrant was a result of an investigation by detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office for possible stolen items in the residence and for the selling of firearms to juveniles being conducted from the residence.
According to Ackal, detectives were able to locate numerous firearms along with methamphetamine while conducting the search. Detectives also seized other property which they believe to be possibly stolen.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the search warrant. Christopher Morris of 3907 Darnall Road, New Iberia DOB 12/17/1970, was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of illegal selling of a firearm to a juvenile. Dawn Comeaux of 3907 Darnall Road, New Iberia DOB 10/10/1971, was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics and possession of a fire arm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Both suspects were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
