2 Arrested in Opelousas; Police Find Drugs and a Handgun

Saturday morning at 1:28 a.m., officers with the Opelousas Police Department were patrolling the Nicole Lane area, and noticed four men standing between a set of housing units.

The officers approached them from different directions and detained them after 1 of the males walked away while attempting to hide a brown paper bag. Officers retrieved the bag which contained a High-Point 9mm handgun containing 8 live rounds (ammunition) and 15 small bags of marijuana.

Officers arrested was 18 year old Antonio Malveaux, of 142 MLK Port Barre La., for violation of uniform control dangerous substance (CDS) in a drug free zone area, possession with intent to distribute schedule I, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS.

Malveaux's bond is set at $24,500.

29- year-old Marvin Hollier was also arrested for violation of uniform CDS in a drug free zone area and possession of schedule II drug.

Hollier has no bond.
