On Tuesday, the featured business was Frederick Hair Studio on Jefferson Street.
As Brian Frederick clenched the scissors, he chats with his employees and the patrons who come through his doors for haircuts, new styles and make-up.

"I was downtown when downtown wasn't cool." Frederick says, "now, it's the best place to be and it always has been."

Frederick's been at the same location for 22-years- watching the city grow around him.

"It's a great place to go and get everything done." He says, "you can get your hair done, your makeup done... great food, great shopping. There's a lot to do downtown, you can spend a whole day doing it."

More than five-thousand people work in downtown Lafayette, but Downtown Development's Gina Aswell says they rarely leave their cubicle.
However, for 100 days this summer, she says they have a good reason to get outside, if not just for sunny weather.

"Each business every day is going to offer a different special throughout the 100 days," Aswell said, pointing out examples as she walked around the downtown area.

At Frederick Hair Studio, customers get free touch-ups. Other places offer anything from 20-percent off lunches or even a free dessert with an entree.

"The promotion of the 100 days is fabulous for my business," Frederick said. "I think it'll be good for everybody."
