On Friday, June 13, residents of a home in the 300 block of Fontelieu Drive in New Iberia alerted police of a home invasion and shooting.
Officers report three male suspects, one armed with a rifle, entered the residence which was occupied by three adults and two children. Once inside the residence, a struggle ensued between an adult victim and one of the suspects, which resulted in the victim gaining control of the rifle and shooting the suspect.
The injured suspect, Darteze Jack, 25 of Lake Charles, LA., was found in the residence and transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. He is listed in serious condition. Warrants have been issued for Jack for the charges of Home Invasion and Attempted First Degree Murder.
Responding patrol deputies stopped a vehicle on Brianna Drive which fit the description of the suspect's vehicle. This stop lead to the arrest of Devon Moore, 19 of St. New Iberia. Moore was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on charges of Home Invasion and Attempted First Degree Murder. No bond has been set.
The third suspect fled the vehicle stopped by deputies on Brianna Drive. The unknown suspect was described only as a black male.
Deputies have recovered a hand gun and a rifle, believed to have belonged to the suspects.
