The EKG program offers participants a FREE electrocardiogram (EKG), a painless test that records the electrical signals of your heart onto graph paper. The screening can detect past heart attacks, blockages, the thickness of the heart wall and more. Results will be reviewed onsite and our cardiologists will be available for risk assessments. Copies of all abnormal tests will also be delivered to participants’ primary physicians. Also included with the screening is a wallet-sized Pocket EKG card, which participants can share with their primary physician and give to medical personnel in the case of an emergency. Since implementing this free service to our community in 2012, our team of medical technicians and physicians have performed nearly 1,000 EKG screenings. We have identified more than a hundred abnormal EKGs, saving lives with this simple, 10-minute screening. CIS at LGMC is committed to saving more lives in 2013. Family, friends, co-workers and colleagues - any adult over age 18 - will receive peace of mind taking this first step in knowing the health of their hearts.
